Katerina Jacob undergoes heel surgery after years of pain from Haglund's deformity
Katerina Jacob, renowned for her role in Der Bulle von Tölz, has undergone personal surgery to correct Haglund's deformity—a painful bony growth on her heel. The procedure took place in mid-December at Munich's Schön Klinik, where doctors removed the excess bone.
Jacob opted for full anaesthesia during the operation due to her fear of needles. Though the surgery itself went ahead as planned, she later described the removal of her stitches on December 30 as unexpectedly painful.
Her recovery will require six weeks of limited mobility. During this time, she will rely on crutches and wear special orthopaedic shoes to aid healing. The name of the surgeon who performed the operation has not been publicly disclosed.
This year has brought personal challenges for Jacob. In 2024, she lost the legendary Kessler Twins, Alice and Ellen, who passed away through medically assisted dying in Switzerland. As the year draws to a close, she plans to spend New Year's Eve quietly at home with her stepdaughter and their three dogs, steering clear of fireworks.
Jacob's surgery marks a step toward addressing her long-standing foot condition. Over the next six weeks, her recovery will depend on rest and careful movement. Meanwhile, she continues to navigate a year of significant personal change.
