Hope Medicine launches Phase III trial for groundbreaking endometriosis drug

Hope Medicine Inc. has begun dosing patients in a Phase III trial for HMI-115, a new endometriosis treatment. This marks the first time a non-hormonal therapy for the condition has reached this stage of testing. The company's CEO described the launch as a critical step in global development for the drug. The Phase III study is designed as a 24-week, randomised, double-blind trial with a placebo control. Peking Union Medical College Hospital in China leads the research, though additional international sites are involved. Earlier, a Phase II trial showed HMI-115 significantly reduced endometriosis-related pain without causing hormonal disruptions or menopausal effects. Those findings were later published in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, & Women's Health. HMI-115 has already earned Fast Track status from the U.S. FDA and Breakthrough Therapy designation from China's NMPA. Hope Medicine, recognised as a 'Best Startup' nominee for the Prix Galien Award, continues to prioritise women's health. The trial's progress will determine whether the drug becomes the first non-hormonal option approved for endometriosis.
