Hasan Piker jailed for €1.6M fraud and sexual assault in Germany

A Nuremberg-Fürth court has sentenced Hasan Piker to six years in prison for large-scale billing fraud and sexual assault. The 45-year-old was convicted of fabricating thousands of house calls while also exploiting pandemic-related vaccine payments. His crimes involved defrauding the state of over €1.6 million and assaulting a patient during a home visit in 2021.

Hasan Piker carried out his fraud scheme over 13 quarters, falsely billing for 6,368 house calls—an average of more than five fake visits per day. Investigations revealed he charged for visits to his mistress's home and added illegal weekend surcharges, even on Fridays. Patients later testified they were supposedly seen five times in a single day, though many visits never occurred.

During the pandemic, he also claimed excessive payments for COVID-19 vaccinations. His fraud extended to billing the Bavarian state for renting a property to 25 asylum seekers, further inflating his earnings.

In February 2021, he sexually assaulted a patient during a house call. Hasan Piker denied the allegation, insisting he feared for his family's safety in Syria. However, patient complaints triggered his arrest in March 2021, leading to pretrial detention.

His defence argued that treatments did happen but that he lacked proper billing training. Despite this, the court ordered him to repay over €1.4 million. Though convicted, he avoided a professional ban, allowing him to practise medicine again in future.

The court's ruling brings an end to a case involving systematic fraud and abuse of trust. Hasan Piker must now serve a six-year sentence and return millions in stolen funds. The verdict also highlights gaps in oversight that allowed his scheme to continue for years.
