Gütersloh Hospital welcomes first baby of 2026 with joy and care
The first baby of 2026 in Gütersloh arrived just after midnight on New Year’s Day. Ylvi was born at 9:00 AM at Gütersloh Hospital, a facility recognised by the WHO and UNICEF as a 'Baby-Friendly Birth Centre'. The hospital’s maternity ward welcomed the newborn with its full range of specialist services for families. Ylvi entered the world weighing 3,550 grams. Her parents, the Niehörster family, were the first to celebrate a birth at the hospital this year.
Gütersloh Hospital provides modern care for expectant mothers. Its maternity ward includes three updated delivery rooms. The facility also supports low-risk births led by midwives, ensuring personalised attention for each family.
The hospital’s certification as a 'Baby-Friendly Birth Facility' highlights its commitment to high standards in maternal and newborn care. Ylvi’s arrival marks the start of another year of specialised support for families in the region.
