Glass particles found in M.Asam Vitamin C serum trigger urgent recall
A batch of M.Asam VITAMIN C Glow Ampullen has been urgently recalled after liquid glass particles were discovered in the serum. The affected product poses a risk of minor cuts and skin injuries when applied. Authorities have warned shoppers to check their homes for the contaminated items immediately.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) announced the recall following the discovery of glass splinters in batch 078CF0110. The contaminated serum fails to meet EU safety regulations under Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, making it unsafe for use.
QVC, the retailer selling the product, has advised customers to search bedrooms and bathroom cabinets for any remaining ampoules. The company has not identified a specific manufacturing site or production line responsible for the contamination. M. Asam GmbH, the brand behind the serum, issued the recall notice but has not provided further details on the cause or additional steps being taken.
Shoppers who purchased the affected batch are urged to stop using it immediately to avoid potential injury. The recall applies only to the specified batch number, with no reports of wider contamination in other products from the same brand.
The recall remains in effect while investigations continue. Customers in possession of the contaminated batch should dispose of the product safely or return it as instructed. Further updates are expected if new information about the source of the glass particles emerges.
