Girls' Day 2026 Pushes Young Women Toward Skilled Trades and Political Engagement

This year's Girls' Day will focus on encouraging young women to explore skilled trades. Under the theme 'Women in Skilled Trades—Your Future in Hands-On Careers!', the event aims to challenge traditional gender roles. Organisers hope to highlight opportunities in fields like electrical engineering, climate technology, and digital workflows. The event, held in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin, is open to female students and young women aged 14 to 21. Participants will have the chance to meet female politicians and experienced tradeswomen for discussions. Visits to the German Bundestag will also provide insights into parliamentary work and skilled professions.

Martin Plum, one of the organisers, sees Girls' Day as a key opportunity to inspire young women to consider careers in trades. While travel and accommodation costs must be covered by attendees, registration remains free. Interested candidates can sign up via the foundation's website until **10 April 2026**. Last year's event in Berlin attracted **2,734 participants**, including supervisory staff, showing strong interest in the initiative.

Girls' Day 2026 will offer practical exposure to skilled trades and political engagement. The event builds on past success, with organisers expecting another high turnout. Registration remains open until the April deadline.
