From Vietnam to Telehealth: Dr. Ha Hatley's Journey in Family Medicine and Beyond

Dr. Ha T. Hatley, a family physician based in Edwardsville, Illinois, has built a career spanning weight management, emergency care, and military service. Originally from Vietnam, she moved to the U.S. at 17 and now treats patients nationwide through telehealth. Beyond medicine, she remains active in fitness, charity work, and ongoing education.

Dr. Hatley grew up in Vietnam before relocating to America as a teenager. She earned a biology degree from Smith College, followed by a master's from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her medical training continued at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where she specialised in family practice.

For years, she worked across different medical fields, including urgent care, emergency medicine, and telehealth. Around two years ago, she shifted her focus entirely to obesity and weight management. Alongside her civilian practice, she serves as a physician in the Army National Guard.

Outside work, Dr. Hatley is a dedicated runner, having finished multiple 5K races. She also volunteers with Catholic Charities, supporting local community initiatives. Currently, she is pursuing an MBA to deepen her understanding of healthcare leadership and system improvement.

Dr. Hatley's practice now centres on obesity medicine, delivered through telehealth to patients across the U.S. Her background in family medicine, military service, and ongoing studies reflects a broad commitment to patient care. She continues balancing clinical work, fitness, and community involvement in Edwardsville.
