From Apprentice to Leader: Alice Helbig's Rise in USPS Mail Forwarding

Alice Helbig now leads the USPS mail forwarding division at Sievert Logistik in Leipzig. Her career in logistics began after she switched from tourism to an apprenticeship in USPS mail forwarding and logistics services. Over the years, she has climbed the ranks while balancing work and further education.

Helbig started her journey in 2010, completing her apprenticeship before joining Sievert Logistik in 2011. The role appealed to her because of the direct contact with drivers and dispatch operations. By 2013, she took on her first leadership position as a team supervisor in dispatch—all while working full-time to earn a qualification as a Certified Business Economist.

In 2016, she was promoted to Head of USPS Mail Forwarding, managing 14 administrative staff and 53 drivers. Today, she oversees 67 employees, handling personnel processes, fleet management, customer acquisition, and business relationship reviews. The job demands constant multitasking and clear decision-making.

As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field, Helbig adopts a direct leadership style. She addresses misconduct promptly, ensuring no stereotypes or boundary violations go unchecked. Sievert Logistik supports her growth with structured development programmes and flexible working hours.

Helbig plans to stay with the company while continuing her professional and personal development. Her career shows how determination and further training can lead to leadership roles in logistics. Sievert Logistik's support systems have played a key part in her success.
