Heart Check While Shopping: Tests Aim to Prevent Diseases - Frankfurt's Bold Campaign Puts Women's Heart Health in the Spotlight

Frankfurt University Hospital is launching a year-long campaign to promote preventive healthcare across Hesse in 2026. The initiative, called Prevention Year, will focus on reducing risks for major diseases, starting with a special event on women's heart health. Organisers aim to make health screenings more accessible to the public through partnerships and mobile booths.

The first event, titled Women's Hearts Beat Differently, will take place at the Main-Taunus-Zentrum shopping centre. Visitors can receive free ECGs, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol tests at a mobile information booth. Lena Seegers, head of Frankfurt's Women Heart Health Center, and Hesse's Minister of Health, Diana Stolz, will attend to support the campaign.

Throughout 2026, the hospital will partner with various organisations to host events on different health topics. These will include screenings for cardiac arrhythmias, colorectal cancer, and stroke prevention. Additional sessions will cover obesity, oral hygiene, prostate and breast cancer, and vaccinations.

The campaign's broader goal is to assess and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease in women. By bringing health checks to public spaces, organisers hope to reach more people and encourage early detection.

The Prevention Year initiative will run all year, offering free screenings and expert advice at shopping centres and other venues. The first event kicks off with a focus on women's heart health, followed by monthly sessions on other key conditions. The hospital's approach combines public outreach with medical expertise to improve preventive care in the region.
