Firefighters Rescue Pregnant Woman with Aerial Ladder - Firefighters use cherry picker to rescue woman in labour from tight stairwell

A dramatic rescue unfolded in the Diepholz district when firefighters used a cherry picker to save a woman in labour. The unusual operation became necessary after she was unable to leave her apartment through the narrow stairwell. The woman, in the late stages of labour, could not walk and needed urgent medical help. Firefighters arrived at the scene but found the stairwell too tight for a stretcher. Instead, they decided to lower her from the apartment window using a cherry picker.

A basket was attached to the lift, and the woman was carefully placed inside. She was then brought down to ground level, where a waiting ambulance was ready. Just ten minutes after the rescue, the baby was delivered safely in the back of the ambulance.

The operation ensured both mother and child received immediate care. Firefighters and paramedics worked together to complete the rescue and delivery without complications. The woman and her newborn are now recovering.
