Feminist Influencer Tara-Louise Wittwer Wins Prestigious German Women's Prize

Tara-Louise Wittwer, known online as @wastarasagt, has been awarded the Marie Juchacz Women's Prize by the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. The honour recognises her influential feminist advocacy across social media and published works. The ceremony will take place on March 8, International Women's Day, at the State Chancellery in Mainz.

The Berlin-based influencer and author has built a large following by tackling issues like female rage, internalised misogyny, and the influence of pop culture on identity. With over 630,000 Instagram followers, she uses platforms like TikTok to challenge sexism and promote women's solidarity. Her books, including SPIEGEL bestsellers, connect historical patterns of oppression to modern digital spaces.

The Marie Juchacz Women's Prize was established in 2019 to mark 100 years of women's suffrage in Germany. Named after Marie Juchacz—the first woman to speak in the Weimar National Assembly—the award honours those advancing gender equality. Past winners include journalist Golineh Atai, politician Rita Süßmuth, and activist Christina Clemm.

Rhineland-Palatinate's Minister-President Alexander Schweitzer praised Wittwer's ability to engage young audiences with feminist issues. Beyond social media, she writes a column for Der Spiegel and has published multiple nonfiction books on women's rights. Her work challenges patriarchal structures that have long silenced women's voices.

The prize highlights Wittwer's role in shaping contemporary feminist discourse in Germany. Her mix of digital activism and published writing reaches a broad audience, from social media users to readers of major publications. The award ceremony on March 8 will formally acknowledge her contributions to gender equality.
