Eversense 365 Proves Year-Long Accuracy in Landmark Diabetes Study
A new study has confirmed the long-term accuracy of the Eversense 365 glucose monitoring system. The device, made by Senseonics, is the first and only implantable continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to last a full year. Researchers presented their findings at the American Diabetes Association’s 2026 Scientific Sessions this week. The study analysed data from 12,360 Eversense 365 sensors used by open-loop patients. An additional 153 participants combined the CGM with the twiist Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) system for over 30 days. Results showed strong performance across both groups.
Across all users, the average transmitter wear time reached 93.19%, indicating consistent use. Those integrating Eversense 365 with twiist achieved even higher adherence, with a median sensor wear time of 99.46%.
Glycemic control improved notably with the combined system. Users recorded a mean Time In Range (TIR) of 76.08% and a Glucose Management Indicator (GMI) of 6.78%. In comparison, open-loop users had a mean TIR of 66.16% and a GMI of 7.16%. The study also found that over 81% of participants met hypoglycemic targets, demonstrating reliable accuracy in low glucose readings.
Unlike traditional CGMs, Eversense 365 is implanted under the skin and lasts 365 days. The system requires minimal interruptions, offering a year of continuous, accurate monitoring. The findings highlight Eversense 365’s sustained accuracy and its benefits when paired with automated insulin delivery. High adherence rates and improved glycemic outcomes suggest the system supports better diabetes management. Senseonics continues to develop long-term implantable CGM technology for people living with diabetes.
