Eva-Maria Holzleitner re-elected with 98.9% to lead SPÖ's women's rights push

Eva-Maria Holzleitner has been re-elected as head of the SPÖ's Federal Women's Organisation with near-unanimous support. She secured 98.92% of the vote from delegates at the party conference. The event also saw the election of the organisation's full executive board by a strong majority.

The conference brought together 600 delegates, with 360 women and 240 men in attendance. Holzleitner took the opportunity to highlight key women's policy successes under the ÖVP-SPÖ-NEOS coalition. These included the National Action Plan against Violence toward Women, the removal of VAT on menstrual products and contraceptives, and a ban on unsolicited explicit images.

She also outlined future priorities, pledging to push for a consent-based approach in sexual criminal law. Additionally, she committed to implementing the EU Pay Transparency Directive, aiming to close gender pay gaps.

Following her re-election, Holzleitner received congratulations from SPÖ leader and Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler, as well as Federal Secretary General Klaus Seltenheim. Both figures praised her leadership and dedication to advancing women's rights within the party and beyond.

Holzleitner's re-election reinforces her position as a central figure in the SPÖ's women's policy agenda. The overwhelming backing from delegates signals strong support for her plans on consent laws and pay transparency. The organisation now moves forward with a clear mandate for its next phase of advocacy.
