Medical Emergency: Nighttime Deployment of the Coast Guard - Emergency Rescue Saves Woman's Vision on North Sea Carnival Cruise

A 58-year-old British woman on a carnival cruise from Southampton to Hamburg suffered a sudden medical emergency. She lost vision in one eye, prompting an urgent rescue operation in the North Sea.

The incident occurred while the ship was sailing north of Langeoog. Due to the severity of her condition, the woman required immediate transfer to a specialised clinic. However, poor weather ruled out helicopter evacuation because of icing risks.

A sea rescue crew from Hooksiel station was dispatched to reach the cruise vessel. They rendezvoused with the ship and safely brought the woman to port. Upon arrival, an ambulance was waiting to transport her directly to general hospital for further treatment.

The rescue operation ensured the woman received prompt medical attention. She was taken to shore by sea before being transferred to hospital for ongoing care. No further details about her condition have been released.
