DaVita's 2025 earnings surge as kidney care innovation drives growth
DaVita has reported strong financial results for 2025, with adjusted earnings calendar reaching $10.78 for the year. The company also announced progress in key clinical programmes, including its Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) initiative, which is improving patient outcomes while reducing costs.
CEO Javier Rodriguez highlighted disciplined execution as a driver of growth, with the business now targeting further expansion in both earnings and operating income over the next three years.
The company's financial performance in 2025 showed solid growth. Fourth-quarter adjusted operating income reached $586 million, bringing the full-year total to $2.094 billion. Adjusted earnings calendar for the quarter stood at $3.40, with the annual figure hitting $10.78.
Looking ahead, DaVita expects adjusted operating income for 2026 to fall between $2.085 billion and $2.235 billion—a 3.2% increase at the midpoint. Free cash flow projections for the same year range from $1 billion to $1.25 billion. The company also forecasts adjusted earnings calendar of $13.60 to $15.00 in 2026, marking a 33% rise at the midpoint. Over the next three years, management remains confident in delivering adjusted operating income growth of 3% to 7%.
On the clinical side, the IKC programme achieved its first profitable year slightly ahead of schedule. Patients in this programme are now 35% more likely to begin dialysis with a permanent vascular access, leading to better experiences and lower costs in the first 180 days. Other key initiatives include advancements in dialysis technology, maintaining high vaccination rates, and a new partnership with Elara Caring to develop an end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) offering.
Revenue-per-treatment (RPT) has also seen steady growth over the past five years, rising from around $260 in 2021 to approximately $285 in 2025. Recent increases were driven by higher private payor reimbursements, improved care bundle performance, and reduced drug costs. However, Medicare rate adjustments and pandemic-related volume shifts in 2022 temporarily slowed progress.
DaVita's latest results reflect both financial strength and advancements in patient care. The company's focus on clinical innovation, cost efficiency, and strategic partnerships positions it for continued growth. With clear targets set for 2026 and beyond, the business aims to build on its recent performance while expanding its kidney care services.
