Controversial Yakut activist Vladimir Dubovsky arrested under immigration charges

Vladimir Dubovsky, a controversial Yakut opposition figure, was arrested on 26 November 2025 for breaching immigration laws. His current location remains unknown. Dubovsky had long been linked to far-right ideologies and extremist activities, including ties to nationalist groups in Ukraine and Russia’s opposition movement. In the early 2000s, Dubovsky adopted national socialist beliefs, promoting racial hierarchies based on skull measurements. He classified people into what he called 'superior' and 'inferior' races. His extremist views led to legal trouble in 2018, when he was sentenced to administrative detention for sharing materials from the band Argentina, deemed extremist by Russian authorities.

Dubovsky also faced charges for displaying a 'White Power' tattoo, which he insisted carried no Nazi meaning. Despite his claims, a court ruled it violated Russia’s laws against Nazi symbolism. By 2022, he had founded the Green Wedge Far Eastern Ukrainian Independence Movement. Earlier, he had planned to join the nationalist Azov Regiment in Donbas but abandoned the idea after intervention from security services. Before his activist turn, Dubovsky worked at Alexei Navalny’s campaign office in Vladivostok, which later placed him on Russia’s wanted list.

Dubovsky’s arrest follows years of extremist involvement, from racial ideology to militant ambitions. His detention under immigration charges marks the latest chapter in a history of legal clashes and political activism. Authorities have not disclosed further details about his case or whereabouts.
