Central Luzon's New Infectious Disease Hub Boosts Regional Healthcare

A new infectious disease centre and referral laboratory have opened at a hospital in Central Luzon. The facilities aim to improve the detection and treatment of serious illnesses in the region. Both units are now fully operational. The newly built Center for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine includes specialised wards and medical equipment. Patients can access isolation beds, intensive care units, and hemodialysis machines. The centre also features an operating theatre, a delivery room, and dedicated isolation areas for contagious cases.

The Central Luzon Infectious Disease Referral Laboratory supports the hospital’s expanded services. It can test for a wide range of infections, including respiratory viruses, vaccine-preventable diseases, and dengue. The lab also screens for leptospirosis, mpox, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and drug-resistant tuberculosis.

Together, these facilities strengthen the hospital’s ability to diagnose, treat, and manage infectious diseases more effectively. The new centre and laboratory will help handle outbreaks and complex infections in Central Luzon. Patients now have access to advanced testing and specialised care under one roof. The upgrades mark a significant boost to the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
