Bangladesh Medical University balances Eid celebrations with uninterrupted healthcare
Bangladesh Medical University held its Eid Reunion 2026 on Tuesday at Shaheed Dr Milon Hall. The event brought together university authorities, teachers, doctors, students, and staff in separate sessions. Meanwhile, essential healthcare services continued smoothly throughout the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
The university ensured uninterrupted medical care during the holiday period. Around 500 healthcare workers managed outpatient departments, while a similar number maintained round-the-clock services in wards and emergency units. On March 19 and March 22 alone, 944 patients received treatment at outpatient clinics.
Diagnostic facilities, including laboratory tests, X-rays, and CT scans, remained fully operational. Special meals were also provided to patients on Eid day, March 21, when the university hosted an Eid congregation at its central mosque. The reunion event itself saw attendance from key officials, including acting vice-chancellor Professor Md Abul Kalam Azad, pro-vice-chancellors, the treasurer, registrar, proctor, and other senior figures. The gatherings allowed for direct interaction between university leadership and different groups within the institution.
The university balanced festive celebrations with continuous healthcare delivery. Both the reunion and medical services ran as planned, ensuring patients received necessary treatment while staff and students marked the occasion. The event highlighted the institution's commitment to maintaining operations during public holidays.
