Atyrau's New Rehabilitation Centre Doubles Support for Disabled Children

A new social rehabilitation centre for people with disabilities has officially opened in Atyrau. The facility will provide specialised care to children aged 3 to 18 with conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and autism spectrum disorders. Its launch marks a significant expansion in local support services for the region’s 27,000 residents with disabilities. The centre is designed to accommodate up to 150 individuals at once, doubling the previous annual capacity for rehabilitation assistance. Before its opening, only around 1,100 people received such services each year. Now, the facility will offer structured support across six key areas: social and domestic care, medical treatment, psychological counselling, education, vocational training, and cultural activities.

The centre employs 189 specialists, including doctors, nurses, psychologists, speech therapists, and special educators. Its modern facilities feature therapy rooms, mechanotherapy halls, sensory integration spaces, and dedicated workshops for occupational and art therapy. The project aligns with directives from the head of state, outlined during the Fourth National Kurultai, to strengthen social inclusion. The opening represents a major step forward in creating an accessible and supportive environment for people with disabilities in Atyrau.

With its expanded capacity and comprehensive services, the centre will now assist far more patients than before. The facility’s focus on medical, educational, and vocational support aims to improve long-term outcomes for children with disabilities. Its launch reflects ongoing efforts to enhance social infrastructure in the region.
