Hesse's bold campaign puts women's heart health in the spotlight on #GoRed Day

A public awareness campaign on women's heart health took place at the Main-Taunus-Zentrum shopping centre in Sulzbach for International #GoRed Day. The event aimed to educate women about early prevention and bring heart health into everyday life. Visitors could receive free cardiovascular risk assessments and learn about symptoms unique to women.

The campaign was part of Frankfurt University Hospital's 'Prevention Year 2026' initiative, which will spend twelve months highlighting the benefits of early prevention. Hessian Health Minister Diana Stolz, serving as patron, attended alongside physicians from the hospital.

Dr. Lena Seegers, head of the Women's Heart Health Center Frankfurt, explained that women often experience additional symptoms beyond chest pain when suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The event stressed the need for prevention, education, and gender-sensitive medicine to improve women's healthcare.

Unlike other federal states, Hesse has launched this statewide initiative to raise awareness about gender-specific heart health risks. The campaign also focused on partnerships and strengthening health literacy across the population.

The initiative provided free risk assessments and shared key information on women's heart health. It marked a step toward integrating prevention into daily life while addressing unique risks faced by women. No other German state has introduced a similar campaign of this scale.
